Dawn breaks in a cold sweat. Dew on the grass, frigid air wisps through the stone cracks. Back to square one. The sequenced round about is zeroed. Time is undone.
Devils falling off my shoulders. Clipped wings - my consequence for growing older.
Age of death.
Eat what you kill before it eats you.
Looks like you're choking on my head in your mouth. Slamming my face in the mirror, screaming, "let me out." Eyes bigger than your trap; biting all you'll ever chew. I shed my skin, and now I'm clothed in you.
Burn from the inside. Fire refines my dead weight till I'm smoke in the sky. Fire refines my dead weight like a ghost in the night.
Eat what you kill before it eats you.
Lost ones congregate at the point where dawn and dark disintegrate. An empty stomach groaning for an empty slate. Oh God, turn the page. As I come of age, it all fades to white.
